Michael “Mike” Abernathy passed away on December 10, 2023 in Barberton, OH at the age of 74. He was born on January 16, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to Loretta (Butcher) Barch and Thomas Abernathy.

He is preceded in death by his mother Loretta Barch, stepfather Don Barch, father Thomas Abernathy, and brother Richard Honeycutt.

Mike is survived by his beloved spouse of many years, Andrea Nagy; daughter, Rose (Abernathy) Vanatta; grand children, Bailey and Kennedy Vanatta; honorary son, Greg Laney; sisters, Catherine (Randy) McDowell, Juanita Fitch, and Brenda (Billy) Sherman; brother, Randy Honeycutt;  several nieces and nephews, and many friends that became family.

Mike ran his own auto repair shop for many years. He enjoyed working with his hands; gardening; wood working; boating. Per Mike's request there will be no funeral service, however we have chosen to remember and celebrate Mike’s life how he would have wanted with one last drink. The final drink with Mike will be held at the Civitan Club, 44 10th St SW, Barberton, OH 44203 on Saturday December 16th, 2023, at 1:00 pm.
