Oris “Wayne” Alexander went to heaven April 27, 2022 where he joined his wife, Elizabeth; his son, Mark; and many other relatives and friends. He was born September 28,1932 in Floyd, Virginia to the late Russel and Eula Alexander. After high school, he married Elizabeth and moved to Ohio where he worked multiple jobs and raised his five children. After retiring from Firestone, Wayne and Elizabeth enjoyed their retirement years in sunny Florida.
To all who knew him, Wayne was a kind, honest, hard-working man who loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved building and repairing things. His grandchildren believed he could fix anything! He was a true handyman and was especially gifted with wood-working. His children’s houses are filled with evidence of his handiwork.
Wayne really liked cars and loved to drive fast. He and his friend, Gordon, were known to do a little street racing now and then. Wayne paid his share of speeding tickets, but was never in a serious accident because “he got there before it happened.”
In addition to his parents, wife, and son; Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers Al, Bill, and Tom Alexander and his sister, Susan Alexander. He is survived by his children, Barbara Cunningham, Gail Bradshaw (Dave), Waynda LaBoon (Scott), Tim Alexander (Karen), 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson, all of whom he prays will choose to follow Jesus so he will see them again.
At Wayne’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the following:
