Richard J. Elfrink

Richard J. Elfrink (Smith), age 68, peacefully passed away August 7, 2023, with family by his side. He was born in Barberton, Ohio, and lived there most of his life. He cherished the years he spent growing up in West Virginia. Rick was a Truck Driver for 40 plus years. He was a man of many trades. 

Rick enjoyed playing the guitar in his free time and teaching his children many things. He loved a good movie and always had a good joke. 

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Lois and William Elfrink; biological father, Donald Smith; sister Ellen Elfrink; fathers-in-law, Oliver Waid and William Whitby. Survived by his wife of 36 years Kimberly; children Jason, Christopher, Kacie (Jared), Eric (Adrian), and Daniel; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Sharon, Karen (Kenny), Billy (Heather), Fred, Sheryle (Becky), Jim (Carla), Chris and Mike; stepmother, Jan; brothers and sisters in laws, Carol (Jerome), Kenny (Dinah), Karen, Kathy (Jonny); mother in law, Bernice Whitby; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Rick loved eating Cheetos with his grandson Colton and rocking his granddaughter Ruby to sleep. He loved fishing. You could always count on Rick for a cup of your favorite coffee and a good conversation. He will be dearly missed.

Per the wishes of the family, cremation will take place and services will be held by the family at a later time.
