Richard L. Hine III (BUBBA), age 36, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on December 12, 2024, after his lifelong battle with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. Richard was a 2007 graduate of Barberton High School. A huge anime fan, he loved listening to music with one of his favorite groups being Falling In Reverse. He loved playing video games, going to the movies, roller coasters, spending time with his family, learning all kinds of science facts, and, depending on who you asked, was always up for a good debate. All 9 of Richards nieces and nephews held a very special place in his heart and it gave him great joy being “Uncle Bubba”. Richard defied the odds and blessed this world with many more years of life than expected, giving us all the opportunity to learn so much from his wise soul. Anyone who had ever had the pleasure of getting to know Richard witnessed his gentleness, deep and devoted love of family, quick wit, absolute love of life under even the most difficult trials, and above all, his strength and determination. We take great comfort in knowing that our precious Bubba is walking tall through the gates of Heaven.  

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rollie Caudill, Dianne Caudill, and Richard (Larry) Hine, Sr.; his Aunt Elizabeth Bosley; his cousin, Anthony (Tony) MLady; and his cousin, Erica MLady. He is survived by his loving parents: Richard (Larry) and Marie Hine; his sister, Amber Hine; his brothers: Rollie(Elizabeth Anne) Hine and Ryan(Courtney) Hine; his nieces: Emma, Tavonni, and Lillian; his nephews: William, Carter, Saige, Wyatt, Logann, and Oliver; his grandmothers: Linda Hine and Rita Hine; his aunts: Patty Rawdon, Bridget Carpenter, Christine Caudill, Valerie Buck; his uncles: Matthew Caudill, Robert Bosley, Albert Brown, and Jeff Hine, Jeff Buck; and a host of cousins and other family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio 44203 with a Funeral Service to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation or Wishes Can Happen. Contributions may also be made to the family.
