Ronald “Ron” D Wilson, age 81, of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away on September 1, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones. Ron grew up in Honaker, VA the youngest of three brothers: Cecil, Jim, and Walter “Walt”. He loved sports and was voted “most athletic” in his graduating class. Through family and friends, Ron met Shirley, the love of his life for 62 years. Ron joined the US Air Force after graduation and he and Shirley moved to North Dakota. After four years of service, they relocated to Ohio for work. Ron loved his family and often said, “If you don’t have family, you don’t have anything.” Ron outlived many friends who he loved to fish, hunt, and play cards with. Then, God blessed him with a great-grandson to take to the lake. Ron enjoyed gardening and raising his own vegetables, although keeping the critters at bay was a challenge. He fought with groundhogs and one day they ran through the yard knocking him down; they won.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ollie Wilson and his brother, Cecil (Jim) Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Vicky (David) Rose and Debra (Bruce) Given; brother, Walter (Emma) Wilson; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at Cox- McNulty Funeral Home, 12376 High Street, Wadsworth, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 8:00am. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
