Sheryl “Sherry” L. Pointer, 62, passed away peacefully with family at her side Sunday, January 7, 2024 after a long battle with COPD.

Sherry was born Tuesday, September 26, 1961 in Barberton, Ohio. She lived in Akron, Ohio most of her life but also traveled to almost every state and country in the world and was very proud of that.

She was an outstanding, remarkable woman who loved and cherished her family and friends. She enjoyed being a waitress and was great at it.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Leo Minor and Dollie Everhart; her mother, Glendora Boyts; her daughter, Melissa Pointer; her uncle, Frank Waistell; and her cat, Pippin.

She is survived by her daughter, Melonie (Charles) Copen III; grandchildren, Hailie, Cieria, Eiliah, Charlie, Aldin, Luciana, Curtis, Frank, Amelia, and Grayson; sisters, Millie, Deborah, Linda, and Susan; her brother, Duane; dog, Betty; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Calling hours will be Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with services to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton, Ohio.
