Tom Simonds, 82 of Wadsworth, passed away Tuesday March 31, 2026 surrounded by love after a long courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born to the late Charles A. and Hilda H. Simonds in Ashtabula, Ohio on July 13,1943. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1961 and proudly served in the Army. Upon his return from deployment, he met and married the love of his life, Carol.
He was a kind and strong man who loved his family and taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work. His favorite thing in the world was being a Papa. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events, birthdays with cake, watching videos about cars, and talking "useless" knowledge. They loved his stories and he had plenty. He taught them the love of woodworking, which was his favorite hobby. There wasn't anything he couldn't make out of wood. He will be missed immensely.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Simonds; sister, Priscilla Simonds; brother, Charles Simonds; and daughter, Kelly (Mark) Solarek. He is survived by his son, Brian (Tawnya) Simonds; daughter, Stacey Love; grandchildren, Beckham and Keegan Love and Brandon Dombroski, Randy and Cindy Hall; nieces, Karen (Brett) Capstick and Tilly and Jack Capstick, along with countless other dear family and close friends.
No calling hours will be held. A private family service with Military Honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Golden Retrievers in Need Rescue Services (https://www.grinrescue.org/) or US Department of Veteran Affairs (https://www.va.gov/).
