Timothy J. Johnson passed away November 2, 2023 after a brief illness.
Tim was born on October 9, 1947 in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late James and Ruth Johnson. He graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December the same year. He served for four years in the Air Force, during which he served in Vietnam for a year. Tim worked as an electroplater at both Luke Engineering and North American Roto Engravers in Wadsworth and was later employed by the City of Wadsworth Streets Department, from which he retired.
Tim loved music, especially Motown, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed yard work, and was a fan of Ohio sports. For 35 consecutive years he even cooked turtle soup for the OSU vs Michigan game! Tim especially loved Wednesday morning breakfast with the class of ’66. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 170, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1089, and DAV Willie Marcum #72.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Johnson; son, James Johnson; brother, Kelly (Janet) Johnson; brother-in-law, Bill (Pien) Holvey; sister-in-law, Julie (Rick) Rupert; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Cancer Society, the National Park Foundation, or a charity of your choosing.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 1376 High St., Wadsworth, OH, with a committal service to follow at 12:45 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH. Per the request of the family, facial masks are recommended for those attending the visitation.
