Wilbert L. Crites, age 95, passed away on January 29, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1929, in Sutton, West Virginia, to Doy and Lula Crites.


Wilbert proudly served on the front lines of the Korean War. After his military service, he worked in the coal mines and later retired from Wadsworth General Clay in January of 1992. His favorite pastime was exploring Amish Country, where he made countless friendships that he cherished like family.


A true collector of all things, Wilbert was known for his ability to find just about anything in his shed. He found joy in helping others and never hesitated to lend a hand. To know him was to love him, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of crossing his path.


Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Hilda Crites; and his son, David Crites.


He is survived by his children: Richard Crites (Jasmine), Randall Crites, Dale Crites (Sheila), Sherry Lowe (Jim), Angel Kelley (Chris), Debbie Crites; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.


Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wilbert’s life on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 1376 High St., Wadsworth, OH 44281. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 AM, officiated by Rev. Don Bolich. Interment with military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.


Wilbert’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
