William Pierce, Sr. (83) of Canal Fulton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2021, due to COVID. William was born in Mogadore, OH to the late Lawrence and Frances (Weigand) Pierce. Preceded in death by brother, Charlie Pierce; granddaughter, Heather Pierce; and brother-in-law, Jerry Athey. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy (Lyons) Pierce; daughter, Susan (Ed) Pierce-Frey; daughter, Pat (Mike) McGaughey; son, William (Beth) Pierce, Jr; brother, Ralph (Edna) Pierce; sisters, Dianne (Sereno) McCreery, Mary Hackett, Grace (Budd) Barger, Jane (Frank) Admonius and Theresa Fiest; sisters-in-law, Bev Pierce and Jeanne Athey; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and too many nieces and nephews to count.
William always loved a good party with his large Catholic family and spending time outside. He was an avid golfer most of his life, and had his favorite round of golf in Hawaii a few years ago. He was well known as an amateur landscaper and loved to mow and plant flowers. He loved to crack a joke and had a wicked sense of humor. He loved traveling and going to the casinos with his wife, unless he wasn’t hitting the big jackpots. He was a strong man that helped anyone in need and wore his heart on his sleeve. He will greatly be missed by friends and family.
Visitation will be Friday, March 5th, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Cox- McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 6th at 10:00am at Saints Philip & James Church, 412 High Street SE, Canal Fulton. Graveside services to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, North Canton.
