Oval Steele

Oval Steele went home to be with the Lord on January 26th, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband Clyde Steele and her three siblings. She is survived by her son Rich Steele, her daughter Linda (Steve) Summerville, her grandchildren Derek (Agusta) Summerville, and Tara (Adam Kearns) Summerville, Corey (Lindsey) Steele, as well as her three great-grandchildren Victoria, Evangeline, and Max. She also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law Evelyn Gilbert as well as many nieces and nephews in Virginia that she loved dearly.

She was born on March 26th, 1924 in Jane, Virginia and was raised in Haysi, Virginia. She moved to Akron, Ohio in early March of 1946 with her husband to start their family together. She was a devout Christian who was very active in the church where she went on many overnight trips with her ‘the ladies’. She was always very active and ready to go on new adventures. She even continued to participate in the Metro Parks Fall Hiking Spree in her 90s! She loved to crochet, quilt, read, and spend warm afternoons on the back porch watching the hummers at the feeder and the big old robins splash out all the water in her bird bath. She loved her family with every ounce of her giant heart and they loved her just as much. She was ready for the good Lord to take her home and let her light shine in heaven... and cook heaven up a pot of her amazing chicken and dumplings!

Private services have taken place. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.
